GEARNET Workshops

Spring 2012

We are beginning to plan a workshop where we will present the findings from each of the pilot-scale GEARNET projects that have been undertaken with different sectors. We have not decided on a date yet, but this workshop will likely take place during the Spring of 2012. If you are intersted in attending, and would like to be kept in the loop about this workshop, please contact us.

Winter 2011

We had originally planned to hold a GEARNET Workshop in January 2011. However, the feedback received at meetings with individual Sectors during December 2010 indicated that it would be more acceptable, relevant and helpful to industry for us to hold additional face-to-face meetings with fishermen who are interested in submitting a proposal for a research/gear demonstration need. These meetings will be held in various ports, reducing the need for industry travel.

The goal of these meetings will be to:

  • Review gear focused research / gear demonstration ideas proposed by the fishermen attending the meeting;

  • Finalize a list of high priority ideas and flesh out the details - the goal is to have at least one draft proposal prepared by the end of each meeting;

  • Finalize a ‘research gear pool’ purchase list related to the draft proposals, to enable the research to take place;

  • Develop a schedule to address these research/demonstration needs.

If you are interested in having a meeting held with fishermen in your area, please contact us.
